The asian or asiatic elephant is the Jharkhand state animal. It is the only living species of the genus elephas and is extended in south-east Asia from India in the west to Borneo in the east.
Three subspecies are recognised:
Elephas maximus from Sri Lanka, the Elephas maximus indicus from mainland Asia, and elephas maximus sumatranus from the island of Sumatra.
Asian Elephants are the largest living land animals in Asia.
The name of the Jharkhand state bird is koel. It is a member of the cuckoo family of birds. It is found in the Indian subcontinent, China, and south-east Asia.
It forms a superspecies with the closely related black-billed and pacific koels which are sometimes treated as subspecies.
Do you know, the koel lays its eggs in the nests of crows and other hosts, who raise their young. They are unusual among the cuckoos in being largely frugivorous as adults.
The name koel is echoic in origin with several language variants. The bird is a widely used symbol in Indian poetry.
Jharkhand state flower name is palash which is also known as Butea monosperma. It is an important tree of taxonomic family fabaceae which is native to tropical and subtropical parts of the Indian subcontinent and south-east asia.
The palash tree is found in different countries such as India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri lanka, pakistan Myanmar, Thailand, Loas, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and western Indonesia.
Jharkhand state tree name is sal. It has different names such as Shorea robusta, sakhuwa or shala tree. It belongs to the dipterocarpaceae family.
This tree is native to the Indian subcontinent, ranging south of the Himalaya, from Myanmar in the east to Nepal, India and bangladesh. In India, it extends from Assam, Bengal, odisha, jharkhand, to shivalik hills in haryana and east of the yamuna.
Previous Seal: State seal of Jharkhand was four 'J' letters and those make a square. Ashoka chakra is placed inside this square. The Colors of 'J' letters are green and Ashoka chakra has a blue outline.
Current Seal:The Jharkhand state logo is circular in size and the Emblem of India placed at the center of the logo. The national emblem is enclosed in concentric circles depicting Jharkhand culture and its abundant natural resources.
Important Points: The Ashoka pillar at the center of Jharkhand logo is the state emblem of the country. It also represents Jharkhand sovereignty.
Note: The new logo of Jharkhand was launched at Ranchi on the eve of 74th Independence day. It was launched in the presence of Jharkhand governor draupadi murmu, chief minister Mr. Soren, speaker rabindra nath mahto and Rajya sabha member Sibu soren.
